Currently enrolled in the Diploma in Accounting Program (DAP) at the University of British Columbia, I will be graduating from my Bachelor in Economics and Commerce in November of this year. My strong interest in finance and accounting has motivated me to complete programs such as the Canadian Securities Course and the Life License Qualification Program. After I complete DAP next year, my intention is to continue with my interest and expand on my skill set by pursuing a Chartered Accountant designation.
I often strived towards opportunities in which I can utilize and develop my communication and leadership skills. On campus, I am the Treasurer for the Dap Student Club. Off campus, I am participating in the Leaders of Tomorrow Mentorship Program with the Vancouver Board of Trade and I am working as an accounting co-op at WorkSafeBC.
Background and Interests
Originally from Hong Kong, my family and I immigrated to Canada in 1994. In order to keep my Chinese roots, I enrolled myself in the Form 5 (equivalent to secondary level) Chinese Program at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Vancouver. I have a strong interest in sports and I love investing in technology stocks. Most importantly, I love meeting new people at either networking events or through my other involvements in the community. I love hearing their different backgrounds and current goals in life, and seeing how I can provide value into their lives. Also, I enjoy reading books (currently reading Timothy Ferriss’s “The 4-Hour Workweek”) and catching up on the latest news happening in the world today.
